Tara Sheena is originally from Detroit, Michigan, and graduated from the University of Michigan in April 2011 with a BFA in Dance and BA in English. During her time in NYC, she has had the pleasure of working as a dance artist with Amy Chavasse, Amy Cova, Lola Lola Dance Theatre, Mark Dendy and Steve Paxton, as well as showcasing her solo work at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, Shapeshifter Lab, AUNTS, and others. She currently works as a Development Consultant for Cora Dance and in the Box Office at New York Live Arts. Tara also enjoys consistent freelance work as a Contributing Journalist to Dance Informa and The Dance Enthusiast. Her writing has appeared in Critical Correspondence, Art Observed, Culturebot and the Huffington Post. Additionally, she works as a Research Assistant, attaining photographic reproductions and rights for upcoming book releases by Dr. Angela Kane (Paul Taylor A to Z, University of Michigan Press 2014) and Clare Croft (Funding Footprints: Dance and American Diplomacy, Oxford University Press 2015). This fall, she will continue rehearsals for performances with Megan Kendzior (Danspace Project commission, December 2013) and Nadia Tykulsker/Spark(edIt) Arts (Triskelion Arts commission, February 2014).
